Jumbo Opponents Ready "To Mobilize"

Local activists are delivering a clear message to any European company looking to invest in the controversial Jumbo Glacier Resort proposal in the East Kootenay.

The West Kootenay Coalition for Jumbo Wild is reacting to a visit to France last week by a Kootenay business group promoting high-elevation ski resort investment opportunities including Jumbo.

Spokesperson K.Llinda Kivi says they're contacting those companies to let them know that should they invest in Jumbo they face "...massive,persistent and passionate opposition." 

Kivi says activists are "ready to mobilize" should the government make a decision on approving Jumbo - a decision they feel is imminent.

Apart from their environmental concerns opponents don't believe the resort will create good jobs and argue it would take business away from existing ski operations.
