Nelson Opera Gets Top Lighting Designer

A major feather in the cap for the producers of Nelson's very own opera.

Nelson-based international lighting designer Sharon Huizinga will be in charge of those elements for Khaos The Opera which premieres at the Capitol Theatre next month.

While there aren't the big budgets she's used to Huizinga says things will look special and she's excited about the projection elements that are bieng provided courtesy of Selkirk College students and equipment.

She's promising what she calls a "spooky, dramatic and multi-layered" look for the totally home-grown opera which premieres March 8th,9th,10th.

Huizinga's resume includes work on Broadway, with Cirque du Soleil, Diana Krall and on President Barack Obama's Inaugural Ball.
